Football betting rules at MegaPari Bet
This guide explains football bet settlement for adult users in Ethiopia, including normal time, extra time, penalties, interrupted matches and live bets. MegaPari Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data.
Before placing a bet, check the market name, the period covered, the match status and any special conditions in the bet slip. A bet slip is the record of your selected market, stake and odds. Where this general guide differs from a specific market, the conditions shown for that bet take priority, subject to the applicable Terms and Conditions.
Important: the final match winner is not necessarily the winner of a 90-minute betting market. Extra time and penalty shootouts count only where the market rules include them.
Standard settlement time: 90 minutes
For most football markets, settlement is based on 90 minutes of play plus referee-added stoppage time. Stoppage time, also called added time, compensates for interruptions within each half. It is not extra time.
Extra time is a separate period, usually two 15-minute halves, played when a competition needs a winner. It and any penalty shootout are excluded from standard 90-minute markets unless the rules clearly say otherwise. A “full time” label should be checked against the market’s stated period.
- Match Result / 1X2: home win, draw or away win after normal time.
- Double Chance: covers two of those three possible results.
- Total Goals: compares goals scored during the covered period with a stated line.
- Handicap: applies a stated goal adjustment to the covered result.
- Both Teams to Score: asks whether each team scores during the covered period.
These markets usually cover 90 minutes plus stoppage time. First-half, second-half and other period-specific markets cover only the period named.
When extra time counts
Extra time counts only when the selection or its rules explicitly include it. “Including extra time” is different from a standard Match Result market. A market covering extra time does not automatically include a penalty shootout.
Selections such as “To Qualify,” “Winner of Tie,” “Team to Lift the Trophy” and “Outright Winner” concern progression or the eventual competition winner. Their rules may include extra time, penalties or the aggregate result across multiple matches.
For example, Team A can draw after 90 minutes but qualify after extra time. A 90-minute 1X2 bet on Team A would lose; a qualifying selection could win if the applicable rules include that outcome.
How penalties are settled
A penalty during play is not a penalty shootout. A successful penalty taken during normal time counts as a match goal for markets covering that period. A penalty scored in extra time counts only for markets that include extra time.
A penalty shootout is a separate tie-breaking procedure. Its goals normally do not count towards standard Total Goals, Both Teams to Score or player goalscorer markets. Its result may decide qualifying, trophy or outright selections where their rules include shootouts.
For shootout-specific bets, check exactly what is being measured: the winner, successful kicks or another stated outcome.
Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches
The treatment of an interrupted or rescheduled fixture depends on MegaPari Bet’s published rules, including any completion deadline. Do not assume that every cancelled football match bet receives the same treatment.
Settlement deadline: [Compliance confirmation required: insert the applicable rescheduling or completion window, its time-zone basis and any competition-specific exceptions.]
- Cancelled before kick-off: bets may be void if the event does not take place, subject to the applicable rules.
- Postponed before kick-off: bets may remain valid if the fixture is played within the permitted window; otherwise, void settlement may apply.
- Abandoned after kick-off: unresolved markets may be void. Markets already conclusively determined before play stopped may be treated differently.
- Resumed later: whether the original bet remains valid depends on the completion deadline and rules for resumed or replayed matches.
- Result changed after the final whistle: later disciplinary decisions or official corrections are handled under the rules for result changes, not automatically as refunds.
- Incorrect date, team or market: a listing error may require review under the error provisions. Report the discrepancy rather than assuming the bet remains valid.
A void bet means the selection is treated as invalid rather than won or lost. For a single cash bet, this normally means returning the stake. Accumulators, bonuses and free bets may have different treatment. “Cancelled” may describe an event or a bet status; check the settlement record for its meaning.
Live football betting settlement
In MegaPari Bet live, odds and market availability can change quickly. A submitted bet is not necessarily an accepted bet: an acceptance delay or event review may apply.
A goal, red card, VAR review, penalty or dangerous attack can trigger new odds or a market suspension—a temporary pause in accepting bets. An unconfirmed request may remain pending, require acceptance of updated odds or be rejected under the applicable settings and rules.
Scoreboards, streams and statistics can be delayed. Check the accepted bet record rather than treating an on-screen score as confirmation of acceptance or settlement. Bets may await confirmed event data before settlement.
Odds changes and bet confirmation
The odds attached to an accepted bet are those recorded in its confirmation, subject to any applicable error provisions. If odds change before acceptance, the system may offer a new price or reject the request. Automatic acceptance of changed odds, where available, depends on your settings and the published rules.
Before confirming, review the selection, time period, stake and odds, especially in live football. Afterwards, check that the bet appears as accepted. Technical or obvious pricing errors may be reviewed under the relevant terms; they do not create an automatic entitlement to payment.
VAR, official data and result corrections
VAR—the Video Assistant Referee review process—can lead to a goal being disallowed, a penalty decision changing or a card being revised. Markets may remain suspended while a decision is unresolved.
Settlement uses confirmed data under the applicable rules, not simply the first broadcast announcement. If official data changes after settlement, any review or correction must follow the Terms and Conditions, including the provisions governing recognised sources and later amendments.
For a disputed result, keep the bet ID, market name, accepted odds and settlement details. These help support identify the relevant rule.
Player, cards and corners markets
- Cards: check whether the market covers players on the pitch, substitutes, bench personnel or coaches, and how second yellow cards are counted.
- Corners: check whether a corner must be awarded and taken to count. A corner awarded but not taken before the whistle may be treated differently.
- Player participation: a selection may be void if the player does not appear, but starting, substitute appearance and minimum-participation conditions vary.
- Player goals: own goals normally do not count as goals scored by the named player. Confirm the market’s own-goal and attribution rules.
Check the specific market rules before placing a bet. The normal-time rule alone does not resolve these counting and participation questions.
Examples of football bet settlement
| Scenario | Settlement |
|---|---|
| The score is 1–1 after normal time. Team A wins in extra time. | A 90-minute 1X2 bet on Team A loses; the normal-time result is a draw. |
| The match is 0–0 after normal time. Team B later wins a shootout. | A 90-minute Total Goals Over 0.5 bet loses. Shootout kicks do not count. |
| A match is cancelled before kick-off. | The bet is void if the applicable cancellation rule requires it; refund treatment depends on the bet type. |
| A live bet is submitted during a VAR review. | It may remain pending, require confirmation at changed odds or be rejected. Submission alone is not acceptance. |
| Team A qualifies following a penalty shootout. | A “Team A to Qualify” bet wins if its rules include the shootout result. |
